My students need playground equipment, such as Plasma Cars and Scooter Boards, for the newly renovated yard. We've created a great space for the students to play; now we just need equipment to use in it!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an amazing group of preschool students who are eager to learn, and get to do so through play. My room is an early childhood special education class, with students ranging from 3 to 5 years of age. Our students have eligibilities that vary widely, including: Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome, Speech / Language Impairment, and Intellectual Disability (formerly known as Mental Retardation).
My preschool students are always surprising me with their energy and love for school.
It is a honor to be part of their education process.
My Project
Our school's preschool play yard is being upgraded to help protect our students from the heat and give them a great space to play. Now, we need to get the materials and toys that the students need to further their physical development! Now, we'll have the shade necessary to let the students actually play on the yard. They can develop their gross motor skills by using equipment such as a Plasma Cars, helping them to work on both large muscle movement and hand-eye coordination. And like the Plasma Cars, the scooter boards will also develop those same skills. Plus, we will have the ability to offer the students choices, rather than everyone having to do the same task or play with the same toys. And, most important of all, it will be fun! That's what preschool should be all about: learning through play! We have the yard, and now we need the mobility and environmental equipment to fill it.
Physical development is one of the six critical areas we address in our special education program.
With your help, we will be able to get some of the materials we need to help them develop their gross and fine motor skills. And, while the students are learning to play outside, we also get to work on another developmental area: social and emotional growth. When you help us with these materials, you help us in not one, but two of six critical domains of our special education program. Your donation helps address up to a third of their special education with us. You're making a big difference!
