My Project

We are one of the few High Schools in our district that that has the opportunity to start and build a ceramics program. Our students really enjoy being able to create artwork in the three-dimensional form, but right now we have to reach out to surrounding potters who allow us to use their kiln on their own time. Freshman through seniors will have the opportunity to learn this trade as incorporating this into our self inclusion classes and community. We have the opportunity to develop a program here at IAHS that will help to encourage and inspire kids to gain a higher feeling of self confidence while making art that will last a lifetime.

You know how we all feel and look when we get something done?

That self-pleased look we get, and the good feels of creating something, whether that something has flaws or not. Once you realize that you can make something that is this much fun from your own hands, you start gaining control over your amazing and unique little projects which can quickly turn into graceful results. Children grow up with the need of expressing themselves, may it be through painting, writing or even creating three-dimensional objects with their own hands. Pottery helps them blossom creatively with the confidence to pursue their ideas in their head to help make those ideas come to life!
