My students snatched my heart from day one. They are inquisitive, determined, and eager to embrace any learning opportunity they encounter. Not only are they willing to persist in academic challenges, they inspire each other to become better humans through social emotional learning.
Their smiles remind me daily that I am looking into the faces of the future creators, designers, architects, and leaders of the world.
This thought drives me to consistently reflect on teaching methods, lesson quality, and classroom environment in order to provide them with the educational experience they deserve. I strive to meet them where they are through flexible seating options, personalized learning, and real world connections.
Our classroom community and student growth is built one deliberate step at a time. Ultimately, our hard work will help my students discover the path that allows them to develop into fierce advocates empowered to chase their passions.
My Project
Flexible seating is more than a buzzword in education. For my students it means they have an active role in creating their optimal learning environment. When students are part of the learning conversations, they are more engaged and take more ownership over their progress and success.
By donating to this project you are amplifying student voice and choice in our classroom setting, helping to set students up for greater academic success.
Currently students in the class can choose between traditional chairs, elevated tables, stools, and floor seats. Funding of this project would expand their options to include standing desks and wobble stools. The wobble stools especially are so necessary for my high movement students who consistently attempt to balance chairs and stools on one or two legs. This will give students the movement they need while ensuring my peace of mind that they are not going to have an accident.
I have seen increased motivation and engagement this year with the choices available, and I hope additional choices will increase these qualities even more. Thank you!
