Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students sometimes feel their voices and concerns are not being heard. This project is focused on helping them record and create short audio interviews related to issues they feel are important. The microphones will be used for students to interview each other and community leaders to discuss the problems that they feel need addressing.

My students are scholars, parents, caregivers, and DC residents who have concerns about their community and caring for their families.

Additionally, my students are doing some amazing things in the community with little recognition. This project will allow them to also celebrate their wins by sharing them with others through the audio story showcases that they will plan and execute. The materials in the project will provide them with the resources to do the interviews and create the audio stories for the showcase. These stories will serve as an inspiration to other students and the community.
