My Students

My goal, as their music teacher, is to create an environment of exploration and enjoyment of learning through music and technology so all my students can be successful musicians.

I teach at a Title I school in Georgia, where the majority of the students receive free and reduced meals, sometimes their only meals are at school.

Poverty does not equal failure. Failure is not an option in my classroom. As an educator, it is my duty to help my children learn all that they can. It is my duty to ensure more than a quality education for my children; they deserve the best education possible. I feel a responsibility to give them more, to motivate them and to grant them opportunities that they would not normally receive because of their financial disadvantages.

My Project

My students need binders and page protectors to keep track of their music for learning how to play a ukulele. Many times my students have music misplaced or can never keep track of it.

To save paper and patience for teacher and students, we would love to have binders and page protectors to put our music in so when a certain piece is being practiced, it can easily be pulled up in the binder without having to waste time finding the music.

I want to teach organization among other things to my students and this will help make that happen. By providing these supplies, my students can organize their music so when it is time students can play any piece of music at a moments notice.

When they hear something good, they want to recreate that sound each and every time. That's what is so great about music. Once that "light bulb" goes off in their head, they never want to turn it off. I want my students to strive to be better than they were the previous day.
