My Students
I am so excited to teach seventh grade English Language Arts. Even though I haven't met my students yet, I already know they're DOPE!
I will be teaching in a school that deeply values the diverse and unique identities, needs, and abilities of our students.
72% of the students in my school come from low-income neighborhoods. However, that is not what defines them nor is it a barrier to their success, dedication, and drive. My students are brilliant and they bring their many selves and life experiences with them to class each day.
My classroom is a community of learners that enjoy reading, writing, and discussion. Reading, writing, and reflection on their experiences allow them to make sense of who they are and learn from others. Through rich literary experiences, my students are able to engage in meaningful learning.
My Project
If my project is fully funded, the beginning of the school year, the most critical time of the year, will run smoothly as we will have everything we need for our classroom to run efficiently. The pens will be used for peer editing. The highlighters will help my students mark texts. The chart paper and the chart markers will be used for anchor charts on topics covered that my students will be able to reference. Every item I selected is necessary for my classes to be autonomous and confident. In middle school, there's so much paper! There are a few items that I selected that will allow me to keep all of that paper organized.
