This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach a self-contained special education class. All of my students have learning goals that are specifically tailored to meet their unique learning needs. Our classroom has a dual task of exposing my students to the general education curriculum and providing practice and mastery of their IEP goals.

My highly structured and individualized classroom is the perfect place for my students to learn and grow.

My students are at least two years behind grade level so it is important for us to have the resources and tools ready to go, so we can meet their learning needs.

My Project

My students love to learn in hands on ways. It is not enough for us to read about a concept and practice it in a workbook. My students want to practice what we are learning in fun and engaging ways. This means that I do a lot of printing and prepping of classroom materials.

The laminating machine and laminating pouches will be used to make our classroom games and stations more durable, thereby cutting down the amount of paper we use.

For example, right now many of my students are working on learning sight words. When I print and make games that teach the centers they only last a few days in classroom use. Despite our best efforts the paper often gets torn, ripped, or damaged. I will use the laminating machine to laminate the materials before I give them to the kids. This will make them more durable and suited for classroom use.
