My Students
Our student body is 85% African American, with the remaining 15% being a combination of Asian, Latino, and Caucasian students. These students are excited about education, and many are driven by family members from all over the city just so they can be a part of our great tradition. About 60% of our students live at or below the poverty level.
We are a Title I school, with 25% of our students being visually impaired.
My second grade students are exceptionally bright, and they need to be captivated, challenged, and motivated to achieve.
My Project
Teaching in a urban school district is no cake walk! Schools often lack the basic supplies to provide students with a quality education. Donating to my project will help students get the supplies they need to be successful 2nd graders. It will also help them to become hands-on learners; engaging in projects that require critical thinking skills demanded by the Common Core Standards.
Schools often lack even the most basic supplies to provide students with an adequate education.
This means that teachers have to spend extra money on supplies. How can students learn without supplies such as pencils, paper, and art supplies? THEY CAN’T! Teaching and learning becomes difficult when students are not provided with resources. Students need robust learning experiences, infused with creativity. Funding my project will not only help to provide basic supplies for our classroom, but it will also help my students to become productive learners.
