This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a Title I elementary school, I often times notice that our students are not exposed to science outside of the classroom. Over seventy percent of our campus receives free or reduced-price lunch, and oftentimes, we have students who are not capable of even having their parents supply their own school supplies. Our school is located in an area that was hit and affected by Hurricane Harvey, but our students are actively coming to school eager to learn.
In my classroom, I work hard to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable environment for learning and seek ways to make learning innovative.
We have created a culture on our campus where our students actually look forward to the bus pulling up at their houses in the morning to bring them to school.
These kids will take advantage of any learning opportunity that is brought their way. Our motto at our campus is 'reach for the stars', and our students do their best to reach beyond them.
My Project
Having a karaoke machine in the classroom will make reading out loud a lot more exciting.
Student participation will increase and attention spans will increase as well.
So many times when I ask a student to read something such as instructions to the class they tend to whisper and show absolutely no excitement.
Having a microphone to speak into will liven up the class assignment.
Not to mention that a karaoke machine will add new life to reading a book or class assignments. Students will have opportunities to really make a class assignment fun and exciting and the teacher will lots of fun as well using a karaoke machine.
