We Can't Get Enough Chapter Books!

My students need more chapter books such as the Big Nate and Diary of a Wimpy Kid series because they can't get enough! My second graders are tired of picture books and are looking for more challenging materials.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us to keep our passion for reading! My students have become so interested in chapter books this year that we don't have enough to go around. They love all kinds of series and titles, so this collection would help my students to grow in their reading.

The students at our school are English Language Learners, receive free breakfast and lunch, and deal with socioeconomic issues at home.

Over the years I have seen my students work their little hearts out and this year is no exception. My class this year absolutely loves to read. Some of the kids in our class will read an entire chapter book in a night! Can you believe that students in second grade can read like that?!

My Project

Through DonorsChoose, we were able to receive boxed sets of Junie B. Jones that we read together. My students absolutely loved reading them and are already finished! It would be so great for these students to have books in the classroom that they want to read.

The students were the ones who picked out all of the books that we are requesting.

They'll go to our school library looking for a book and won't be able to find it. I asked my kids to pick any books or series that they were interested in. This way all of the students in our class will benefit from these materials!
