This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you had the chance to read a picture book to a child who is so involved with the story that they beg you to read it again the second you are done? I want that to happen everyday with my students.

My students attend a highly diverse school in Utah.

We have many different reading levels and interests. Some come with a love to read, while others start to develop that love. But, we have one thing in common in our class and that is we try our hardest to become the best readers and we love to study our favorite authors.

My Project

We read everyday. Some of our books are following apart because we have read the books so many times. There are times when many students want to read the same books at the same time. I want my first grade students to have a wide variety of books by some of our favorite authors to read when they are excited about the book. I don't want them to have to wait while that excitement runs out because another child is reading the book. I will read these books aloud to the class and then give my students the chance to read them during the rest of the year. The books will live in the classroom library and in my student's hands.

I want my students to leave our first grade classroom with a deep love of reading.

These books will draw them in and let their imagination flow. My students love to read the Froggy, David Shannon, and Mo Williams books with me and giggle at all the funny things the characters do. They beg me to keep reading the books the love. These books will provide us with the chance to fall in love with all the characters and authors.
