This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Science is a very important area that unfortunately does not always get covered as it should in school due to lack of time in a school day.

My students are in kindergarten and first grade.

They have disabilities including but not limited to Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, Developmental Delays and Speech and Language Impairments. Our school is located in a rough area of South Los Angeles were the majority of students come from very low income households.

My Project

My students learn in a variety of ways, one way which is very successful for them to understand and master concepts is through hands-on learning. I am requesting hands-on activities kits that will help my students explore scientific concepts like, magnetic attraction and laws of gravity. The 3 kits that I am requesting will be used in small group center time. During this time my students will be able to build structures and work with magnets to understand science in a fun manner as well as through a hands-on experience. My students are very young, while they will not be learning any elements of the scientific table in my class, they can begin to grasp an understanding of science and how some scientific concepts work.
