Ms. Robertson from Huntersville NC is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need six wobble stools to help them learn while moving, which is important for our youngest scholars.

Working at a magnet school in North Carolina, I have the fortune of working with children from all walks of life. Many are from low-income households and often don't have the opportunity to experience life outside the realms of school, so I consider it my personal mission to make school a magical and enriching environment where every child feels loved, safe, and excited to learn each and every day.
Kindergartners are eager balls of energy, so precious and full of life, and it is an honor to be their first teacher charged with instilling a love of learning from the moment they start school.
Every child learns differently and at their own pace. Creating an environment with meaningful activities that reach all of my learners is essential to not only create a passion for learning, but to make sure that every child sees their own potential.
Not all children learn the same way. Kindergarten is the first experience many children have as part of a large group outside of the comfort of their home, and sitting on a hard chair at a table isn't necessarily the best way to tap into their full potential as a first year student. Our school will be participating a personalized learning cohort next year, and as a part of that initiative I would like to provide my students with some flexible seating choices versus the traditional hard chairs.
Wobble stools allow a rocking motion while students work, which can be calming and organizing for the brain, helping children focus more, especially those with attention difficulties.
It also helps develop core muscles, allowing the mind and body to work in sync. This would not be the only seating available in the room, but one of many. Just as I flex my instruction style to reach our different types of learners, I would like to flex my seating options to meet their different needs as well.
