Not all children learn the same way. Kindergarten is the first experience many children have as part of a large group outside of the comfort of their home, and sitting on a hard chair at a table isn't necessarily the best way to tap into their full potential as a first year student. Our school will be participating a personalized learning cohort next year, and as a part of that initiative I would like to provide my students with some flexible seating choices versus the traditional hard chairs. Wobble stools allow a rocking motion while students work, which can be calming and organizing for the brain, helping children focus more, especially those with attention difficulties. It also helps develop core muscles, allowing the mind and body to work in sync. This would not be the only seating available in the room, but one of many. Just as I flex my instruction style to reach our different types of learners, I would like to flex my seating options to meet their different needs as well.
