Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a rural school in Charleston County, South Carolina.

We are a Title I school, which means that 90% or more of the population of students qualify for free or reduced priced lunch.

In our school, we have one class per grade level for grades child development (four-year-old) through sixth grade.

I teach the child development class. This is the children's first introduction to school. I want to provide them with great learning experiences while having fun when they are here at school.

My Project

These signs and buildings are exactly what we need to celebrate our new unit of study about signs. The outdoor signs will be great for the tricycle roadway on our playground. The children will love reading them and moving them around the roadway. The kindergarten class will also be able to use the signs when they are outside.

The indoor building and vehicles will enhance our block center and make it print rich.

An added benefit is that the children will also learn about community helpers and the different roles they represent in our own community. The children will love using the buildings and the vehicles during block time.
