Help me give my students Dr. Seuss books to read during independent reading time and for me to read to them during whole group reading time. The requested books complete my Dr. Seuss library!
My kindergarten students walk into our kindergarten classroom ready to learn and full of excitement. It is my job to make sure they not only pass all concepts on the kindergarten report card, but they are able to retain the knowledge and become lifelong learners. Besides learning reading, math, science and social studies with books and manipulatives, my students participate in learning centers. They use many supplies to accomplish all goals and they have fun learning at the same time!
Regardless of each child's home environment, my goal is to improve their school environment as much as possible.
The majority of our students receive free and reduced-price lunch. My school offers free breakfast to all students in our district and sends home backpack lunches every Friday to students who might otherwise go hungry on the weekend. My kindergarten students love coming to school to learn. I love their love of learning and eagerness to try new things.
My Project
Dr. Seuss books have very easy reading levels kindergartners can use to practice reading independently, with a friend, with their teacher or with their parents. Dr. Seuss teaches children great life lessons and does so by incorporating funny characters, repetitive texts and great story lines.
I will use all books in my kindergarten classroom, especially during Read Across America Week.
Our school participates in a week-long event where we read all Dr. Seuss books throughout one week, complete fun learning activities, dress up on particular days and learn about Dr. Seuss. Our grade level loves it so much. We usually participate for 2 weeks!
