My kindergarten students are blessed to be able to have their own iPad in our classroom. Headphones always tend to break throughout the year, so we're always in need of replacements. Having their own headphones helps keep the noise down especially during testing. My students take tests on iReady and complete assignments every day. Our goal is 30 minutes of iPad times a day. We rotate between reading and math. On Fridays, they get to choose which apps they use. They choose between Starfall, Teach Your Monster to Read and ABC Mouse. Throughout the day, kindergartners spend a lot of time together on the rug. We sing songs, read books, participate in smartboard activities and learn letters and numbers together too. Our old rug was about 10 years old and definitely needed replaced. Our new rug is larger and more colorful. Our students have had an absolute blast learning how to prepare drinks, measure ingredients, follow steps in sequence, and work together as a team. What may look like simply making coffee is actually hands-on practice in communication, responsibility, math skills, and job readiness.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far has been when we mix the drinks. As the ingredients swirl together, one student lights up and happily announces, \"Oh look, it's time for the tornado!\" That small moment captures the joy and engagement this project has brought into our classroom. The students are not just participating — they are fully invested.\r\n\r\nThe café experience builds confidence and independence. They were so excited to see all of the new prizes carefully placed inside. The colorful options immediately sparked conversations, big smiles, and so much anticipation about earning a turn to choose something special.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest highlights was the super large container of Goldfish crackers. The students could not believe how big it was! There were gasps, cheers, and lots of wide eyes when they saw it. The fruit snacks, Fruit Loops, and Goldfish have quickly become favorite rewards and motivators in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThese treasure box items and snacks are more than just prizes. They are powerful tools that help reinforce positive behavior, encourage hard work, and build confidence. For many of my students, earning something from the treasure box is a huge accomplishment.
