Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from mostly low-income backgrounds and low skill sets. They are accepted to our middle school from surrounding neighborhoods where the school pays for busing for many of our students to be picked up at hubs around the neighborhoods. The majority of our students qualify for free/reduced lunches and breakfast.

What makes my kids special is that, in spite of their rocky pasts and current difficulties, they still want to learn!

These middle-schoolers still eagerly raise their hands and love to be called on. Each day, I am inspired by their enthusiasm to want to get better.

My Project

Serving 111 student each day puts wear and tear on technology equipment. There have not been any additional headphones or mice bought for the classroom in over 3 years. As each has broken, we struggle to make due with the ones remaining. We use both headphones and mice each day.

We need to replace our broken technology equipment of headphones and computer mouses for the 111 students we serve.

We use headphones for individual video viewing. The computer mouse is a vital piece of technology equipment without which, any user becomes completely immobile. Students use this equipment daily and it is imperative that it functions.
