We have been using the letter tiles to explore building words, which the students have loved. We have used the ten frame poppers to help with learning addition and subtraction which has helped the students stay engaged longer. The base ten blocks have been wonderful for teaching place value and composing/decomposing teen numbers into ones and tens. We now have enough of these special seating options for all students in a small group to have one, without needing to take turns. These have allowed students a choice to find a position to sit in that is comfortable for each student individually. I have noticed their focus and interest in the activities has increased exponentially. The inflated wobble cushions have also had a huge impact on students' stamina during independent work times. They have stayed focused and engaged for longer durations, and I have noticed the quality of their assignments have been positively impacted as well.\r\n\r\nThese activities would not have been possible without your help. My students and I were so excited when each of the materials arrived. The wooden blocks and linking jax have been consistent favorites since they arrived. The students have played with them during every choice time and are finding new ways to explore with them each day. Their favorite things to do with both is sort them by size and color and pretending the blocks are people and using the linking jax to make a town/houses for the block people. Soon we will be focusing on patterns, and I intend on using both of these manipulatives to gain their interest. We will also be working on forces and cause and effect soon, which I think the blocks will be a helpful tool in learning about these skills.\r\n\r\nThe students have also been very excited about the pink and gray crayons. Before your donations, we had about five of both pink and gray crayons. There was a lot of waiting and practicing patience. Since your donation, all students have been able to have free access to these colors without stalling their creations to wait on others to finish! They have been even more excited about the pink and gray packs of crayons than when I have replenished the other colors.\r\n\r\nSo far, the sensory necklaces have been a hit! I had a few students who were putting things in their mouth that were unsafe. Since being provided with the sensory necklace, they rarely put things in their mouthes apart from the necklace. My students and I are so grateful for these, as the students no longer feel they have to hide putting things in their mouth because they have an accessible alternative, and I have peace of mind knowing they have a safe option to use to meet their sensory needs.\r\n\r\nMy students and I thank you again so much!
