My Students

Students need to be able to listen, talk, and communicate with others to grow their knowledge.
My fifth grade students are caring, hard-working, and investigative.
They yearn for educational experiences that will introduce them to the world around them. Our school focuses on exposing our students to technology so that they can be successful in the twenty-first century. Our student population is very diverse with a large percentage of military families.
My Project
My students love using technology in the classroom to aid in their learning. There are a lot of great resources available, but most use audio. One that I use, Discovery Education, has an online version with videos to explain a variety of concepts. Another one, like StoryNory, allows students to listen to and follow along with a story that is read to them. Others sites give verbal instructions. Headphones are required for these so as not to disrupt other students' learning, and allows for more technology to be used during independent work, which is done every day during guided reading. These headphones will also allow students to create projects that showcase their learning, because they have a microphone that they can talk into.
The addition of these headphones to our classroom will give my students the opportunity to listen, communicate, and learn using a variety of educational websites.
Students will have access to a world of educational material that is available outside our school.
