My students come from a mix of financial, ethnic and learning abilities, which make up the natural variety of learners, that is, Kindergarten. We honor the diversity our students bring with them and we all learn and grow together.
Kindergarten students add an additional variant, they come to school at such different learning levels.
Some come knowing how to read and write while others come in still not able to use scissors or write their name. Learning through exploration offers all our student on the same "playing field" and allows our students with basic skills to learn in another way; while also allowing our students with lower academic skills demonstrate and learn a new concept in an "unconventional"way.
My Project
I love to teach my student how to use everyday tools. It is important that they have the opportunity to use real items and explore how they work.
It is important that children learn at a young age how to use real tools.
This will help develop their knowledge of basic tool usage for when they get older and need to use real tools.
My students like to put gears together to see how they interact together. It help them develop their understand of working parts. They can learn how one part affects the other which is a lesson that can be extended to teaching lessons about teamwork.
