This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine learning to write in a fun and painless way? Do you remember not wanting to write because it was painful and your writing was not as neat as your classmates? Handwriting Without Tears is essential in teaching handwriting.

My students come from a highly diverse population.

100% - One hundred percent of my students are English Language Learners, ELL. 83% Eighty three percent are receiving free or reduced lunch. Most of my students come to Kindergarten without any previous schooling. They have very limited resources at home, some live in shelters or with extended family members; however, they come everyday to school eager and excited to learn.

My Project

My students will be able to learn and practice how to write in a fun and painless way. The Handwriting Without Tears program offers that to every child. The materials will encourage and aid the proper way to write, hold the pencil, and use the double line in a multi-sensory approach. Handwriting Without Tears materials include chalkboards, chalk, and small sponges for each student to practice independently during literacy centers and in small group. The magnetic mat kit and sentence strips will help the students maximize their learning of the program. My students' handwriting will make the rest of their schooling easier in every subject because they will not be slowed down nor will they have to feel embarrassed of their work.

Handwriting Without Tears materials will impact present and future students on so many different levels.

My students will be excited not just to write letters neatly, but to share their written stories and work with pride.
