This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with motivated English Language Learners. My students come to school ready to learn, they are ambitious and they work very hard to meet their academic goals. Students learn in various ways, therefore I try my best to meet the various needs of my students from 4th to sixth grade.

English language learners appreciate explicit teaching and visuals.

Therefore, I spend a lot of my teaching time drawing diagrams and pictures to help build comprehension. Communication through illustration and modeling how to apply strategies help build successful learning.

My Project

I have been using a projector screen to help support my students' learning for a few years now, and it is time for a new one. I can see how engaged my students are when I present a video, a slide show or visuals to help build language and vocabulary. Having a projector screen can also allow my students to present their projects as well.

Teaching students through visuals greatly promotes motivated and engaged learners.

Once they are hooked into the lesson, I have won half the battle. I am eager to get a new projector so that I can continue to use visuals in my teaching.
