Mrs. Walls from Atlanta GA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need art supplies to create artworks emphasizing the theme for our Annual Night of the Arts Program entitled, We Are the World!

My day begins with greeting the smiling faces of third grade artists entering my Visual Arts classroom. They are ready to be challenged and engaged, and although I am a visual arts educator and not a music educator, I may belt out a few "Beeee Bop, Bee Bop, Bee Bop" notes, inviting each one to be seated.
My students demonstrate enthusiasm in learning about art, culture, and history as they are engaged in various units of inquiry designed to teach them about their community and the world.
We are a Title I urban school located in Atlanta, Georgia. Our school demographics are diverse consist of 40% Hispanic, 30% African American, 28% Caucasian, and 2% Other. Our students experience participating in a caring, nurturing, and motivating environment that promotes character building.
The requested art materials will be used to create art projects for our Annual Night of the Arts Program entitled, We Are the World. Each grade level will focus on learning about a specific country, the culture of its people, and inhabitants. We will create two projects for the program, one of which will be an exhibition of beautifully designed kites representing each selected country.
My students get most excited when they are actually creating art for an exhibition.
These young artists will be inspired to develop their skills and talent for viewers within the entire community. During this process, our students will learn positive character traits such as appreciation, creativity, empathy, respect, and tolerance. We hope our viewers will interpret a desire from our artists to be the ones to make brighter days through their expressions of art because our world needs healing.
