Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the sweetest kids! I am the music teacher for over seven hundred fifty first through fifth grade students. 100% of my students receive free/reduced lunch. Approximately 85% are English language learners and 14% are African-American. They are members of an underserved community but are part of an excellent school.
My students are kind, generous, hopeful, and funny kids.
They charm everyone they meet! They are super curious and excited to learn. I hope you will contribute to my projects and help my students succeed.
My Project
These books will inspire my students to be positive and productive citizens. I teach my students that it is never to early to change the world. I chose these specific books because some feature characters that look like my students and speak the same language as my students, some pertain specifically to music, and some contain biographical information of people that made positive impacts on the world.
I want these books to spark a love for reading and a desire to make a positive impact on the world.
It is important for young readers to be able to identify with the characters in the books that they are reading to help them make connections. I want all of my students to be able to go to my bookshelf and pick out a book that they can read.
