Help me give my students flexible seating options, including a comfy stool, a big beanbag seat, a comfy floor seat, and wobble cushions to help them get their wiggles out!
As a speech-language pathologist, I often pull students from their classrooms to provide services. Each student works diligently on their individual speech and language goals. Some come to me to practice expressing themselves, while others tackle saying a "strong r" when they speak.
My students are exceptional learners!
Their comprehension is best when they are presented with information in a multitude of ways. We love using visuals, videos, and songs to make material meaningful. Many of my students struggle in their general education classrooms due to their disabilities. I may not be able to teach them every skill they need to be successful communicators; however, I can make their experiences at school positive and fun!
While their goals are mostly academic, it is important to remember that we are all working towards one thing: to build positive connections with one another.
My Project
In my small space, it is important that my students feel comfortable while they work. Many of my students have disabilities that affect their attention, sensory needs, and anxiety levels.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
My students will use flexible seating to stay focused and productive during speech and language sessions. Their seating options will reflect their general/special education classrooms with Flex-Space. These items will be used to give students choices as well as alternative seating for those who need it. The Flex-Space seating options are more comfortable than traditional classroom chairs, allowing my students to learn in a welcoming environment.
I know that Flex-Space seating options will positively affect my students and help them achieve success!
