My students need Singer Sewing Machines that are easy to use for beginners. With these machines they will be able to make something from scratch that is a meaningful keepsake.

My Students

I am currently the general education teacher in a second grade classroom. My classroom is comprised of students with a variety of capabilities from diverse family backgrounds.

They thrive on learning, building and creating.

Since my students are so eager to learn, I love to bring in varied and new experiences that they might not be able to get at home. They are wonderful boys and girls, who deserve all the interesting and hands-on materials they need to succeed and thrive in school and in life.

My Project

My administration has asked me to apply my own early childhood knowledge of sewing to continue a sewing club in my school. I will be working with various third, fourth and fifth grade students throughout the entire school year. Children of any age can learn some form of sewing.

Sewing is a fun and creative endeavor in which each student can make something that is real and meaningful to them.

Sewing is not only a special activity; it is an important life skill that they will gain. I know they will be smiling from ear to ear when they say they constructed a totally new item by using these machines. It is a terrific feeling to be able to say that you can do it yourself and an experience they will never forget!
