My students need engaging books for read alouds to help meet the common core standards. These books will do wonders to engage our students throughout the year.

My Students

We as a second grade team are embarking on a new journey for the 2018-2019 school year. Most of our team is new to the grade so we are making some adjustments to our curriculum. We are very excited to work with this new group of students and help them become just as excited and curious about reading as we are. We want to give our students an experience to find the joy and adventure in reading. They deserve to have the best and that is what we want to provide for each of them when they enter our rooms in September.

Our students are energetic, loving, kind and extremely thoughtful of one another's feelings.

All of our students come from a wide variety of socioeconomic statuses, and each student had their own unique background story.

My Project

These books we are requesting go along with a wonderful literacy unit we discovered called Rooted in Reading. It focuses on one read aloud each week so that students will deepen their understanding and focus on the structure of the story, and use the different reading strategies and skills that match the story. We will also use the books for writing, vocabulary, art and much more. It would be wonderful to own these books to be used year after year.

The lessons that we will implement using these books are fun, creative and engaging.

This would be an amazing addition to our current reading curriculum. It will allow the students to access the standards and foster a love of reading!
