My Students

How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed? As a teacher in a low income and high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school eager to learn and excited to try new things.

In my classroom, we are focusing on 21st Century learning and preparing for their bright futures!

These students are driven and excited to learn new things and work together to create a life long learning environment. These students are from low socioeconomic environments and don't have access to these materials at home as they do at school.

My Project

My students struggle to focus and pay attention when sitting in their plastic chairs. They are young and active and therefore, they enjoy moving around. I would love to give my students the opportunity to sit in wobble stools when meeting in small groups. The wobble stools would allow my students to wiggle and learn at the same time while building core muscles.

The best part of completing a project is being able to share with others what was learned!

In my classroom, students get many opportunities to research topics that interest them and create projects pertaining to what they learned. Having a podium in my classroom would give students the opportunity to present and share what they have learned with the class. Students would be able to use the podium to show their work under a doc cam and display their creations while speaking in front of the class. Having both wobble stools and a podium in my classroom would have a major impact on my students' learning!!
