Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been working towards creating positive experiences for my students when it comes to reading in upper elementary classrooms. This project is a continuation of that goal! I want to create a special reading corner in my classroom that allows for students to interact with engaging books that interest them and also have a place to write about their books.
These materials will support my students in accessing books that interest them as well as push them to become better readers in 5th grade!
All of the book series or individual books were chosen by my students or myself. They are high engagement and also include some books that align with our standards. I also included bookmarks and reading notebooks so that my students can write about what they are reading. The bookmarks are designed to help students at all levels of reading track certain lines in their text. The wobble stools that I picked out will be put in our reading corner so that students can have places to sit while they enjoy their books.
