My Project

I teach wonderful ESL students. Some first enter school in America for the very first time when they start school in August. Many don’t know letters or sounds and are frustrated that they can’t write their names or understand the language.

I introduce writing at the very beginning of school.

Writing is a valuable lesson to teach as we need to be able to read and write our entire lives. Many students are frustrated because like I stated, they don’t know letters or sounds in our native language. How do I help my students? PRACTICE and more practice!

I am requesting a binding machine to encourage writing as a project goal. I can bind pages so that they may last much longer. My students love when I bind their writing into books. They are so proud to be able to write simple sentences!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
