Our students come from a very low socioeconomic background. Many come from households that lack literacy experiences. In addition, most come from households where there is no technology or access to it, i.e. internet connections.
My students are naturally inquisitive.
They are interested in the world around them but are unable to have those life experiences like their peers from other communities. They are fascinated by what they learn and are eager to know more about our world. Fortunately, as an educator, I recognize their needs and wants and wish to provide them with a rich, school experience.
My Project
My students are excited when they learn through technology. I plan to use the Fire 7 Tablets and headphones during my Language Arts and Math centers. They will practice literacy and math skills through apps that are engaging and effective for practicing the skills first graders need.
They are so many available resources through technology that I want my students to be able to experience.
With the Fire Tablets, they will be able to learn and practice the reading and math skills they need to be successful in a fun and engaging way. My students are 21st century learners and naturally born to learn through a variety of ways, including technology.
