Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember kids in school being made fun of because they looked different? Our school is very diverse with many cultures present. What a wonderful place it would be if everyone understood the cultural differences and became one big family!
My students are from lower income families.
They have many different backgrounds from Hispanic to Viennese. The parents are very involved and want their children to succeed. Many students love being at school and learning. Our school is a public PK-6 school and is very large 800+. The staff is very concerned about everyone feeling good about themselves.
My Project
These resources will allow my students to understand the different cultures and what makes them unique. It will allow everyone to understand that whatever their background we are all similar. My students will use the fact sheets to learn basic facts of their country, it will give them the interest to dig deeper and find more information. The students will use the boards to set up their presentations which will include facts, an art project, photos, foods and a song or dance presentation. The students will not only be learning about other cultures but working on researching, writing and oral presentation. The stamps are for passports to each country so that families can complete their trip around the world!
My students and their families will have the chance to learn about many cultures during this Multicultural fair.
It will bring everyone closer together with a greater understanding and tolerance of differences. Many of the students will not only share their heritage but actually better understand it and be proud of it!
