Thanks to your support, our dramatic play area has been completely transformed into a vibrant, imaginative space where my students are learning through play in the most joyful way.\r\n\r\nThe moment the children saw the new materials, their eyes lit up with excitement and wonder. We all worked together to organize the materials with labels, ensuring a very structured and easy-to-manage system. We took about 2 weeks to learn about all the materials and how to use them. Once the kitchen was \"open, \" several of them immediately began organizing a \"restaurant,\" while others took turns being shoppers and cashiers in our pretend grocery store. One student proudly announced, \"I'm making pizza for everyone!\" and carefully prepared a full pretend meal, even taking everyone's \"order\" first. It was a beautiful moment of collaboration, communication, and creativity.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and belief in our classroom. This year, your generosity helped bring in new math read-aloud books that are already making a big difference.\r\n\r\nIn our kindergarten class, we don't just read—we explore. These new books help students learn essential math concepts, such as counting, comparing, shapes, and spatial relationships, all through joyful stories and vibrant illustrations. Reading time has become a space where math and language come together in powerful ways.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorites is Turtle Splash!, where we learn to count and describe what we see. The children love predicting what will happen next, acting out positions like \"under\" or \"beside,\" and using new math words in conversation.\r\n\r\nI've seen incredible growth already. Isaiah now speaks up during math time, using new vocabulary from the books. And during play, students spot math in the world around them—\"Look, that window's a rectangle!\" one student shouted on a walk last week.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom is filled with books that spark curiosity, build confidence, and connect reading to real-life thinking. Thank you for helping us build readers and thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1740663059298,"projectUrl":"project/get-excited-about-math-through-literatur/9059933/","projectTitle":"Get Excited About Math Through Literature!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9776875_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x119,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745609796829","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9776875"},{"teacherId":9238252,"projectId":9134824,"letterContent":"The impact of this project has been HUGE for me and my students. Not only have these donations helped my students become better learners, but they have helped me feel like a more secure and confident teacher and leader. \r\n\r\nThe new books we have received have helped us become kindergarten mathematicians! We are immersing ourselves into reading about the math topics we are learning. By combining reading and math, my students' level of understanding of the material has seemed to skyrocket. In their free-time, they love picking up math books they have watched their teacher read to them.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity, and your dedication to the future of our world. My students would not have the opportunity to use wonderful tools like this without your help. My kindergarteners were so excited when they came into the classroom and saw the table lit up! Their little hearts were filled with so much excitement. We use the table for both reading and math interchangeably. We are currently learning addition and subtraction. When we are finished with a lesson, we then talk about what we will be using at the light table that day to practice those skills. They are always so excited to show what they know. \r\nThey also love to practice sight words, their names and building sentences at the light table.
