My students need hands-on science experiences to enrich their study of insects. My future entomologists want to study insects up close with new microscopes!
My students come to school eager to learn together. They come from many different backgrounds and cultures and bring with them a vast array of experiences and strengths.
The words we live by in our diverse, urban second grade classroom are, “The harder you work, the smarter you get!" Everyday you will see us setting goals and pursuing our hopes and dreams with focus.
Thanks for supporting the hard work of my 24 bright and bold learners!
At our K-8 performing arts magnet, more than half of our students are English language learners. We work hard every day to provide rigorous culturally relevant instruction that inspires achievement in and through the arts.
My Project
Imagine how excited my young learners will be when they get to use microscopes and magnifying lenses to look at insect specimens. During an integrated entomology unit my second graders will practice scientific inquiry, make observations, and pose questions about the natural world.
We are entomologists and we're to say, we study insects everyday!
Your donation will put authentic science tools into the hands of my young scientists as they study characteristics of insects, understand that organisms have life cycles, and learn about the important role insects play in our ecosystem. Having science tools and insect related resources will bring depth into my insect unit.
We will sing the Entomologist Bugaloo. We will write a class book about insects and their defining characteristics, the amazing jobs they do (pollinate, loosen soil, eat pests, make honey), and their habitats. Thank you for supporting my future entomologists!
