Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten friends are always so excited to do art projects, create stories and learn to write! Many of my students come to kindergarten with underdeveloped muscles in their hands, making fine motor skills such as writing and drawing more difficult. The materials I am requesting will help them to strengthen these muscles which they will use for the remainder of their lives.
Through the years I have found that using special writing implements such as fancy pens and pencils has really helped to motivate them to write and improve their writing!
In addition, I have found that the students try harder to have neat handwriting when they work with special materials!
Another favorite activity is art! My students love both teacher directed projects and independent art projects! The art center is a favorite in my classroom! I love getting out a variety of materials and allowing students to create what they wish! In addition to creativity, the students learn responsibility for taking care of supplies!
