I am an ELL (English Language Learner) teacher, and I teach sheltered English/Language Arts and Reading Intervention classes. All of my students are struggling readers. Most are reading far below grade level. I am hoping to purchase Literacy Versatiles for in class work activities.
Approaching literacy skills from a variety of learning strategies is key in my classroom.
Versatiles would provide a more tactile approach to reading, which will engage many students who are frequently distracted or not engaged.
My students believe they are "stupid," which couldn't be farther from the truth. We just need to bring their language abilities up to the same high level as their cognitive thinking.
My Project
Reading Versatiles are a great way to turn reading into a puzzle or a game. My students are reading below their grade level, which often leads them to give up on comprehension.
Versatiles will be a much needed break from constantly reading books or staring at screens.
We all know everyone learns differently, these will be a tool to reach students who's need may not yet being served by the materials provided.
These materials will not only be used withe my classes this year, but also students in the years to come. So , while the number only says reaches 22 students, the amount of students that will be helped far exceeds that.
