My students need an outdoor hoop and some more basketballs to practice outside during the warmer months due to the lack of space we have indoors.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from the West End of Providence, Rhode Island. We are a grade 5-8 middle school comprised of 550 students. We are located in a diverse community with low socioeconomics. Students come to this school from a variety of countries, speaking different languages but the common factor is that they are at a disadvantage financially.
Students that attend our school and join our athletic teams are proud.
They strive to be competitive with surrounding communities. They have positive attitudes and solid work ethic but are in need of materials that will prepare them to be able to compete against communities with greater socioeconomic status.
At our school, we encourage students of all abilities to participate in athletic programs for a myriad of reasons, including the importance of living a fit and healthy lifestyle.
My Project
As the warmer months approach us, we need an outdoor basketball hoop for the students to improve on their basketballs skills. My students have limited indoor space and with an outdoor hoop they will no longer be limited on when they can practice.
Along with the ability to practice outside, we will also need outdoor basketballs that can be used on pavement.
With your support, the basketball team will be allowed more practice time therefor improving on their skills.
Having an outdoor hoop at the school not only allows for more practice time but also allows the students who are always early to school or stay late waiting for rides an opportunity to play and stay active.
