Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are thoughtful, creative, and considerate of others. My students are quick learners, enjoy new challenges, and are always ready to ask important questions. When they are faced with new experiences, my students are excited and ready to grow as a community of learners.
My Project
Practice practice practice makes perfect. In order for my students to grow as readers, they need access to books at their own reading level. As spanish learners, my students need novice leveled Spanish books with pictures to help them comprehend while they read independently. The past year in a half, students were working off of screens but now that we will be back in person, I want to limit screen time and return them the joy of fresh new physical book.
By giving my classroom accessible books, my students will look forward to reading and will find enthusiasm in getting to choose books of their own interest.
In addition to Spanish books, my students also need a place to store them. In order to limit constant visits to the classroom library, each student needs a chair pocket to store their weekly reading books. Lastly, in order for students to share what they read about, they will need individual whiteboards. All these resources will enhance their Spanish learning experience.
