This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am lucky to teach art to every student in the building which adds up to more than 500 students in a high-poverty public school. This includes First through Fifth grade classes, including bilingual classes and self-contained special needs. We are 85% low income, so all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Our school is located in a predominantly Spanish-speaking community with 50% of students being English Language Learners and 80% of students speaking Spanish at home.

My Project

I am looking for watercolor paints and watercolor paper to teach my students new techniques with this unique medium! I am specifically asking for watercolor paper and yellow paint to refill the colors that we are currently missing.

Right now we are running low on the paper that we need for the year to complete our watercolor project.

Painting on thinner paper with watercolor results in tearing, making it nearly impossible to teach. I am looking to give my students the materials necessary to learn how to paint with watercolor paints across all grade levels. Every student will benefit from this donation and will be able to paint their own work of art using watercolors.
