I am lucky to teach art to every student in the building which adds up to more than 500 students in a high-poverty public school. This includes 1st through 5th grade classes, including bilingual classes and self-contained special needs. We are 85% low income, resulting in all of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch daily. Our school is located in a predominantly Spanish-speaking community with 50% of students being English Language Learners and 80% of students speaking Spanish at home.
