My Students
I am living the dream teaching fifth graders in my hometown! Serving alongside my former teachers is the coolest experience! I serve a diverse group of kids who have many different interests and unique learning styles. I'm excited to take my students on a world-wide adventure as we dive into reading and explore literacy in new and exciting ways!
Fredrick Douglas said "Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.", so in giving my students the tools to read, they are being empowered to choose the lives they want to lead.
This is my hope and my mission for each generation that walks into my classroom.
My Project
This project is designed to support my students' learning of the most important resource on earth--water. My students will read A Long Walk to water to learn about the sacredness of water and how it can often be taken for granted by those who have it readily available.
We will complete this book as we begin the month of April, tying in our learning to the celebration of Earth Day.
This is a great book to tie in many literacy skills, including memoir writing, perspective, and theme. I can't wait to share this book with my students and get them excited to learn more about the importance of water in our world.
