Help me give my students ways to explore their senses with many items, including magnetic fishing sets, floating bubbles, waterfalls, droppers and pipe builders. These items will provide hands-on learning with water-play fun!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a pre-K4 teacher at a low income, high poverty school. All the students at my school receive free lunch. Many of our students also receive food bags to make sure they have a nutritional meal over the weekend. My school is also rich with diverse cultures and students who speak many different languages.
I am so honored to be able to teach these students and I try to give them all the things they need to learn.
My small learners receive a solid foundation on which to build new learning experiences. I make sure they have fun, play-based activities where they don't even know they are learning new things! My littles come in with smiles and hugs, ready to tell me everything about their world...and I am ready and more than willing to listen. Do you know why? Because I love each one of them and they know it, too! They know they are important, loved, cared for and safe. That's the way it will always be in my classroom.
My Project
The materials in this project will excite my students by encouraging them to join their friends in engaging, fun, hands-on activities. Children should be excited about learning. What’s more fun and even better than splashing around in water? Splashing around in water while learning your letters and numbers would be my answer! Children in my Pre-K class absolutely love playing at the sink when they are washing their hands. With these materials I could let them play in the water during centers and they won’t even know they are learning! They will think they are just having fun! These materials would help make sure that my students get the chance to learn while they play. Isn’t that what Pre-K is all about?
