Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the pleasure of teaching across the grades all students who are struggling with their reading and math comprehension. My students are eager to learn, but perhaps need a different way to learn. I try to make our lessons stress free, but when a child knows they are having difficulty learning sometimes proves to be impossible.
This is where learning while laughing would be beneficial.
We need to bring back laughter to our schools! Children need to understand that it is possible to giggle and learn.
My Project
Whenever I look around my classroom I see a sea of plastic water bottles. My students are forever thirsty, especially in the warm months, they love to drink water.
But when I look around my classroom, I see a tremendous disservice to our Earth's environment.
Am I really teaching recycling when we are all clutching different size water bottles?
What I would love to have in the classroom is a water dispenser. The dispenser would allow us to refill reusable bottles, thereby getting rid of all our plastic bottles. There can be no better lesson then actually practicing recycling with a real life connection.
