I have wonderful students! Their academic abilities and creativity amaze me. I strive to do everything possible to encourage their growth, but I need additional funds to show them a world with endless possibilities.
My gifted students live in a very rural area of West Virginia.
Funding is very limited for my program and I try to cover all expenses associated with the program. My primary goal is to show my students that they can achieve their dreams. My students range in age from 8-14. This request is for my middle school students (6th-8th). They are from supportive families who are willing to help them achieve their goals, but lack of resources is often a hindrance.
With the addition of a water dispenser in our classroom, we can stop purchasing individual bottled water. This has become rather expensive but it is not good for the environment.
My Project
My middle school students are transported from four different schools to my classroom once per week. We have started an aquaponics project as well as using a grow light to grow our own herbs. My students LOVE to cook. The local 4-H director has been coming to our classroom and conducting mini-cooking/nutrition classes.
Water is a big part of our day.
Currently, the students go through almost a case of water weekly. We have discussed how important it is for us to reduce our dependence on bottled water. We have tried switching from bottled water to other drinks but some of the students do not need the added sugar. I would rather have them drinking water. I feel that by adding a Brio Water Dispenser to our classroom that the students will be more inclined to drink as much water as they want.
