My gifted students live in a very rural area of West Virginia. We have started participating in First Lego League Competitions. Funding is very limited for my program and I try to cover all expenses associated with the program (registration, travel, food, and lodging). This has opened up a world of opportunities for my students. In addition to the academic skills required for this competition, my students have grown culturally. In today's world it is hard to believe that many of our students have never even stayed in a hotel or traveled beyond a 100 mile radius of their home. A VEX program has even been started at the school so that students can transition from First Lego League. The principal at this school has been gracious enough to give me a classroom where we can continue to build our program.
