Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students in our five kindergarten classes at Valley View Elementary are learning about the environment. Planting seeds and watching plants grow is one of the most fun ways for them to do that. Having snacks to eat while doing the work makes it more fun and memorable. I am asking for enough pots, seeds, and soil for all five classrooms.

Planting seeds and watching them grow gives our teachers a way to talk about the importance of soil health, clean water, and healthy plant life that is unlike any other project we can easily do at school.

It is especially fun for the kinder students, and making sure all 5 classrooms are involved gives all of the kids something to talk and be excited about for weeks. It is a great way to portray the growing of the plants as a microcosm for the wider world of nature. The whole process plants the idea in the students at an early age that things work well when they are cared for - this includes the environment!
