My Project

My second-grade students are naturally curious about the world around them, and I want to nurture that curiosity through a hands-on project that connects climate, nature, and technology. With the materials requested, students will plant seeds in flower pots, use soil and garden stones to create their own mini garden spaces, and take responsibility for watering and caring for their plants using pails and gloves. As they observe daily and weekly changes, they will begin to notice patterns in growth and understand how climate plays a role in the life cycle of plants.

Our school garden will become an outdoor classroom where students can explore how plants grow and how environmental factors like sunlight, temperature, and water impact living things.

To deepen their learning, students will use technology mounted on a stand to document their observations through photos and videos. This will allow them to record changes over time and engage in meaningful classroom discussions about what they see. By combining nature with technology, students will not only learn scientific concepts but also build communication and critical thinking skills.

I hope to spark an early interest in STEM careers by showing students how science and technology work together in real-world ways. This project will inspire my students to become thoughtful observers of the environment and help them understand the importance of caring for our planet.
