My 18 three and four-year-olds are kind, bright, and inquisitive. For many of them, this is their first formal schooling experience. They attend a Title 1 funded school, which is a federal education program that supports low income students, in Washington Heights, NY. I am creating a classroom that permits students to expand their imagination, explore, grow, and learn, all while being in a safe, supportive, and loving environment. Thank you for helping make my dream come true.
One of our upcoming month-long thematic units is all about light! We will discover the different types of lights in our homes and our cities, how light helps us see and stay warm, and we will learn about darkness and shadows. In pre-k, a large part of the day is spent in various centers, where students independently select where they play and what materials they want to use. We have an art, science, dramatic play, blocks, math, sensory, writing, and reading center and we try to enmesh each center into our unit of study. We will creating shadows, learning about nocturnal animals, manipulating items upon a light table, and much more!
