My students and I are very thankful for your generous donation of snacks for state testing days. The plethora of snacks was enough for both of my classes for both the ELA and Math testing days!\r\n\r\nIt seems like such a small thing, handing out fruit, applesauce, animal crackers, etc. each morning, but it made a huge impact. Some students looked forward to the testing days just because they know there would be fruit snacks, peaches, or a granola bar waiting for them in the room. It was a treat and they were very appreciative. \r\n\r\nMost importantly and simply, it fed them. It was a small snack, but enough for them to focus and give each day of testing everything they had. It even had an impact in our day to day classroom life. Most students skip the breakfast line each morning, or take it and throw it in the trash. When they realized they actually like applesauce - many students started grabbing breakfast more often and we even started a collection of uneaten / unwanted items in the classroom. Often times, the item doesn't even stay in the bin for more than a day before someone needs a little pick me up.","fullyFundedDate":1742823920549,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-state-testing-days/9188718/","projectTitle":"Snacks for State Testing Days","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. H.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp107143_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1450227697114","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-herzbrun"},{"teacherId":4380,"projectId":8980165,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my classroom. Getting this project funded felt very full circle seeing that friends and teachers from my childhood supported my kids. I feel so lucky.\r\n\r\nWhen we got the rug, we were able to create Rug Rules that the kids have really taken to heart. When someone is not following a \"Rug Rule\", they are quick to call one another out. Specifically, this carpet has squares so each kid gets a spot to sit in. We are very big on respecting boundaries and personal space, so I love when I see students kindly remind others to respect their boundary and stay fully in their square. \r\nThank you all so much for completing my classroom and helping out a new teacher!!!","fullyFundedDate":1743024799949,"projectUrl":"project/meeting-area-carpet/9192590/","projectTitle":"Meeting Area Carpet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. MacDonald","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9712133_orig.jpg?crop=545,545,x23,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742507520209","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9712133"},{"teacherId":9712133,"projectId":8965905,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to this project for my students. My students clapped and squealed when I unveiled each book from the box. It was so incredibly exciting to see these kids get so excited over books and reading.\r\n\r\nI have already used many of these books to teach SEL lessons in my classroom, and can't wait to continue the rest of the year. I noticed some of my students were struggling with raising their hands and not blurting out in the middle of lessons. At this age, kids are developmentally very egocentric. Therefore, it's difficult to stop themselves from sharing exactly what they are thinking at all times. However, this creates chaos in the classroom if they were able to act upon this desire. I read, \"My Mouth is a Volcano\" by Julia Cook. The students responded very well to this read aloud and it has improved our self-control greatly. \r\n\r\nI can't wait to continue using these books for enjoyment and learning.
